Frequently Asked Questions
Question: "Why do I need a
TACM III?" and "How do I use a TACM III?"
Answer: For
what you get, Brightness, Durability and Satisfaction, there are no other
flashlights presently being marketed that gives you the bang for the bucks that
TACM III Tactical Flashlights offer. The bottom line is don’t purchase more
brightness than needed!
Question: With the pistol mount and
flashlight system, if I change out the magazine, I'll be without a flashlight,
right?
Answer: Realizing that nothing is 100% sure in a tactical or combat
situation, you simply do a tactical magazine change and revert back to using the
empty magazine/flashlight in your non-gun hand as you would as if you were
shooting with a standard flashlight.
Question: Given the small size of the
TACM III
flashlight, how bright is it really?
Answer: Even with the TACM III 's small size of 4.5 inches long and extremely
light weight of 3.5 ounces, it still out performs the competition with amazing
105 lumens of output. That converts to about 30,000 candle power. In fact the
TACM III flashlight out performs many flashlights twice it's size using D-cell
batteries.
Question: Do I need to purchase a special
holster to carry the TACM III on my pistol?
Answer: No. The TACM III pistol system was designed with simplicity and compatibility
in mind and will work with virtually any holster design. There is no need to
spend countless dollars on a custom rig or be forced to settle for a
sub-standard, "one size fits all holster"
Question: Do I need to purchase different
complete TACM III systems to outfit my various different firearms?
Answer: In one word, NO. The TACM III family of lights and mounts were designed
by a police SWAT officer, a robotics machinist and former NASA engineer, all who
appreciate the value of simplicity and interchangeability. In reality, you can
purchase one of our tape switch assemblies and any of our mounts, then have the ability to
interchange the components into whatever configuration you wish. Unlike other
systems presently on the market, TACM III products won't force you to purchase separate
expensive "mission specific" systems. We like to feel that this cost
saving feature, along with the quality of TACM III products, set the standard in
the industry and leaves the others in the DARK
Question: How tough are the TACM III
flashlights?
Answer: TACM III flashlights are made from Delrin, the same material used to
build the Stealth Bomber. Delrin's chemical name is Polyoxymethylene, a
glass infused plastic, and is much stronger
than aluminum and will take all forms of physical abuse without denting,
bending, or breaking. Try shock testing an aluminum flashlight by hitting it
with hard hammer blows, which is what TACM III lights are subject to, and see if
batteries can be installed into the flashlight tube or the lamp still lights.
All TACM III flashlights are designed for rough field handling and the lamp
assemblies designed to take the G-forces generated by any type of firearm.
Question: Are TACM III flashlights and
flashlight mounts expensive?
Answer: No, they are one of the lowest cost flashlight systems available, yet
you get a high quality, extremely bright, highly rugged system because of our
space age design.
Question: Will you drop ship TACM III
products?
Answer: Yes. We will ship to any location the buyer request.
Question: If I shine a light on what could
be, the "Bad Guy", the "Bad Guy" will shoot where the lights
is coming from. Right?
Answer: No, and this is the reason why. You must identify whatever it is out
there because it very well could be a family member and not a "Bad
Guy". To do that, you need light. With the TACM III system, the firearm
points where ever the light is pointed. One object of an extremely bright light
is to temporarily blind whoever is there, and TACM III flashlights do with their
105 lumens of power. After clicking on the flashlight to do an initial ID, you
then release switch pressure to turn the flashlight off, move to change your
position, and then reactivate the flashlight to take appropriate action.
Because you have blinded the "Bad Guy" and because you have changed
position, you are in very little danger of becoming a target.
Question: What kind of batteries do
TACM III
flashlights use? Are they rechargeable? What is their useful run time?
Answer: Two three volt lithium batteries are used. The approximate continuous
run time for a set of batteries is about 1 hour and 20 minutes, however the
batteries do have a shelf life of about 10 years and the intended use for TACM
III flashlights is intermittent use so it's anyone's guess as to when you'll
actually need to replace the batteries. One major advantage of lithium over rechargeable
batteries is that the light output from lithium batteries is constant throughout
their useful life, whereas rechargeable batteries cannot be charged back to the
previous level and when used, give less light output as used. |
